PJ Morton Shares New Song ‘Please Don’t Walk Away’
PJ Morton resumes his duties of releasing quality music. First up on the agenda, “Please Don’t Walk Away,” a smooth jam emphasizing his healthy admiration for Black love and positive reconciliation.
“It’s never gone this far / It’s never been this bad / But I won’t let it erase the memories / Of good times we’ve had,” he calmly coos.
Discussing the new track, Morton shared, “‘Please Don’t Walk Away’ is in the spirit of when men were honest and willing to be vulnerable in music. It came from a real place when I thought I was going to lose the love of my life. I just tapped into those feelings. And as it happens sometimes, something beautiful came from something tragic.”
Morton recently collaborated with Kenyon Dixon for “Escape” in June. The song arrived after receiving co-writing credit for Snoh Aalegra’s top 10 single “Lost You,” taken from Temporary Highs in the Violet Skies.
Later this month, Morton will get back in the swing of performing when he joins Robert Glasper for three nights of his residency at New York City’s Blue Note Jazz Club. Then, on November 7, he’ll play a headlining show at the Kennedy Center.
