Reba McEntire Unveils New Music Video for ‘I’m a Survivor’ Remake Sounds Like Nashville
Many of the strong-willed country anthems created by Reba McEntire have stood the test of time, but one of them just got a new look.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member has unveiled a brand new music video to go with a remake of her classic song, “I’m a Survivor.”
Filmed in an empty theater and with McEntire looking totally at ease onstage, standing firm in self belief and inner toughness, it’s a simple clip to capture a straightforward hit — and just part of a much larger project. Backed by a quiet piano and with her vocal at it’s most intimate, the new “I’m a Survivor” is part of soon-to-be-released triple album of redone songs, Revived, Remixed, Revisited, which finds McEntire breathing new life into some of her best loved hits.
Although McEntire never filmed a video for the original “I’m a Survivor,” which came out in 2001 as part of a different hits package, the theme of perseverance and strong femininity resonated with fans. It was even chosen as the perfect track to become a theme song for her long running Reba sitcom, and she says it was about time the track got a real music video.
“The first time I recorded ‘I’m A Survivor’, I didn’t get to shoot a video for it – but we have now,” McEntire says. “So many people can relate to this song on different levels so I hope you love it as much as we did getting to make it – Enjoy!”
The new “I’m a Survivor” will arrive on the Revisited disc of McEntire’s upcoming project, which strips down a selection of her songs for bare-bones arrangements produced by Grammy winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell). Revived offers more songs with a live-concert feel, and Remixed puts McEntire’s work on the dance floor, transforming them into blood pumping EDM anthems.
Reba McEntire will release Revived, Remixed, Revisited this Friday (October 8), and looking ahead, her Christmas In Tune Lifetime movie will premiere the day after Thanksgiving, November 26.
